Looks We Love: Plants for the Bath

via knowhowshedoesit

These days, it's tough to keep up with outdoor potted plants - Austin's sweltering heat and dry climate isn't exactly a plant's paradise. That's why we love the idea of bringing plants inside, especially to the less expected space of the bath.

A humid climate is perfect for a lot of flora, and depending on the availability of light, there are a wide range of options for creating your own green oasis. Not only do plants offer a visual sense of calm, studies show that they have the ability to improve our physical and psychological health.

Welcome, Summer

In Austin, summertime means a few things: morning famer's market excursions, afternoon swims at Barton Springs, long nights on patios in the company of friends, and dining al fresco once the day's heat has subsided.

To celebrate summer's start, create a private cocktail party with our unique collection of glassware and outdoor accoutrements.

Inspiration: The allure of Marrakech

Lately, the Kingdom of Morroco, and specifically the city of Marrakech, has been ubiquitous in the design world, influencing everything from textiles to dinner-ware. It's easy to see why: the intricacy of designs and bold blends of colors gives any room a touch of royalty.

While the elaborate intricacy of differing patterns might come across as overwhelming in some other design scheme, the Marrakech look embraces variety. The look is balanced, though, with the bright white bases of furniture and walls.

In lieu of buying a ticket right now, here's the next best thing: get the look from Wildflower.

 Clockwise from top left: purple pattern pillow - $163 / green glass cup - $10 / octo table - $990 / red embroidered pillow - $348 / fennel ottoman - $998 / metallic zag pillow - $275 / bronze cup - $39 / round lanterns - $595

 woven beach blankets - $45

one of a kind glass bottles - prices vary

antique filing cabinet - $1280

 gold side table - $1400

 silver nesting tables - $485

tibetan lamb ottoman - $1095

hammered copper lamps - $420 / cutout lantern - $488

For true Marrakesh style, create lounge spaces with wide couches and plush pillows - and don't forget the mint tea.

In the store: New Books

In addition to all the obvious reasons to love books - their tactile beauty, the way they transport you to new worlds, their definitive weight in the midst of a digital era - books can complete a space in the way few other things can, providing a glimpse into the taste and mind of the purveyor.
A room can be veritably be built with and around books, giving space a depth and variety that is admirable and timeless.

Trending: summer stripes

 via miss moss

One trend that seems to always be in is a classic stripe - in the wardrobe and the home. In bold colors or casual neutrals, stripes add a look of timelessness and comfort to any room. This summer, pair natural stripes with fresh whites or bright solids.
